Abstract

|
A scenario was designed on nursing assessment and intervention for patients with the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). As it can be caused by various diseases, it is essential that test results are carefully checked for an accurate diagnosis of the underlying cause, the treatment of which is crucial to correct the hyponatremia. Moisture restriction is all-important, with low sodium levels monitored and corrected gradually, which depends on quick and accurate patient assessments, and early nursing interventions.
